Therapy starts with being understood

I’m Rhys, a Clinical Psychologist offering psychological therapy to adults, young people, and families experiencing difficult, overwhelming or confusing periods in their lives.

I believe that people are more than a diagnosis, a set of symptoms, or the difficulties that have brought them to therapy. Our experiences, relationships, identities and circumstances all shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Therapy can offer a space to slow things down, make sense of those experiences, and develop a different relationship with yourself and what you're going through.

A little about me

I came into clinical psychology because I’ve always been interested in the stories people carry with them and how our experiences shape the way we understand ourselves and the world around us. I’m interested in how our experiences can affect the way we see ourselves, sometimes in ways that can feel difficult to shift, and how therapy can help us explore these experiences from a different perspective.

My work as a Clinical Psychologist has taken me across a range of settings and alongside people with very different experiences. This has taught me that there is no single way of understanding distress, and no one approach that will fit everyone. I bring curiosity to that complexity rather than making assumptions about what someone “should” be doing or feeling.

My clinical work draws on CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy, DBT-informed and Narrative approaches, alongside family and systemic ways of working. I bring these approaches together, considering not only what someone is experiencing, but also the relationships, experiences and wider contexts that surround them.
